Hosanna Houser takes the cap and wire cage that comes on a champagne bottle and makes cute little chairs out of them! Since each is from a special occasion, she marks the date underneath the “seat.” What’s more, she posted a picture gallery that shows you how you can make your own. Link -via Nag on the Lake

Traveling all the way from Wayne Manor to the Gotham City Police Department headquarters takes the wind out of a crimefighter. Sit down and rest a bit before taking on the next case. Instructables user Orvis has just what an aging Dark Knight needs.

Gallery O in Boulder, Colorado has only a little space to offer artists: eight by ten feet. So it specializes in miniatures. Recently it exhibited tiny chairs made by different artists, such as these by Tom Lyon made out of Triscuit-brand crackers.

Maximo Riera, the man who created the Octopus Chair, has created more pieces in the shapes of animals, including this walrus. Perfect location in my view: front reception room for a major corporation. Give people the right impression as soon as they walk in.
Tired of trying to vacuum around your dining room table chairs? Have roughly 5,000 pounds sterling to spare? Then the Duffy Swing Table might be for you! Although the design is rather cool, Miss Cellania points out that it would be mighty painful to bump into the table if someone happened to hit you from behind and expresses some doubt as to its practicality. I must say that I cannot imagine this being the kid’s table at Thanksgiving–what a free for all that would be–not that that’s much of an issue in Britain as Duffy is a London designer. Still, if you’re tired of sliding out the chairs, then this one might be for you. Made of managed forest Walnut Veener and powder coated mild steel, it comes in “bespoke finishes and sizes”–whatever that means. Thankfully, the lamp is included in the hefty price–no discount for missing legs.
How does Peter Bristol’s Cut Chair work? The secret is that the one solid leg is firmly anchored to a steel plate beneath the carpet:
A plate concealed by a thick carpet allows a robust cantilevered seat. Three well placed leg “stumps” and the chair looks as though it has just been magically sliced apart.
Bristol hopes to put the Cut Chair into production.

Joey Zeledón’s Coat Check Chair is beautiful in its simplicity. It’s made from coat hangers and the steel bar from a closet rack shaped into a chair frame.
The Nostalgic Chair by OOO My Design pays homage to great old music by making cassette tapes useful again. It comes with a Walkman attached and appears to be assembled with just zip ties.
It’s variously romantic or creepy to have someone sit in your lap. But even when it’s not creepy, it gets uncomfortable after a while. So Ilian Milinov proposes this design called the Hug Chair to make lap sitting a bit more comfortable.

This is “Bon Bon Gold” by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders. It’s a hollow chair made of crocheted rope that holds its form due to heavy coatings of resin and gold. At his website, you can view similar pieces of furniture made from woven rope — just without the expensive gold.

The Jetsons promised us that we’d have a flying car that turned into a briefcase. Well, that’s probably still pretty far off, but in the meantime, here’s five suitcases that turn into chairs and pet beds.
Sometimes they’re nicely upholstered, sometimes leather, and sometimes just simple but functional.
As with Katie Thompson’s aforementioned ‘Recreate’ range, the SitBag line of furniture cleverly makes use of old suitcases in its quest for unique seating, and it definitely works. Created by Turkish design collective MayBeDesign, these chairs have a more retro feel than their South African counterparts, due in part to the choice of suitcases and their fantastic upholstering. More so than any of the other examples, I could actually imagine a couple of these and an ottoman scattered around the room.

Socks for your chairs? Yes, and they make your chair look like any of several stereotypes based on the style of socks. Get them in argyle (male or female colors), sporty, or striped. Your chairs will never get cold feet again! Link -via J-Walk Blog
We go from cute to downright gruesome. This here is a post by Miss Cellania about furniture and accessories that will make your house into a bloody crime scene over at our pal mental_floss blog that makes me slightly afraid of her. Okay, a lot afraid of her
This one above is the Dexter dining room chairs:
Designer Amy Lau was inspired by the serial killer show on Showtime when she came up with these Dexter dining room chairs. The chairs are decorated with embroidered blood spatters. There are also bloody dinner plates and disfigured flatware to match, available from Spring Design.
(Yes, astute readers will notice that Amy Lau’s blood spattered design was on Neatorama before)
