Fake Cat’s Paw Toy

If the Yamato tricycle isn’t what you’re looking for, don’t count Japan out. Try this one for size – a blast from the past from 2006:

Watch out, JAPAN AT ITS BEST! I might have some difficulties explaining this one to you… Bandai is releasing the “Neko Nyanbou” in Japan sometime in April. So what is it? Well, these are fake cat paws with claws that can be controlled by a small switch hidden in the “handle”. Why on earth would you use these? To scratch your back, to scare a colleague or just as an extension of your arm… the drawings below will explain what I mean. So yes, they are crazy, but that’s exactly what we love about them!

Is Your Cat Left-Handed or Right-Handed?

Posted by John Farrier in Animals & Pets, Science & Tech on July 27, 2009 at 12:36 pm

Scientists have conducted research which suggests that cats may have paw preferences:

Psychologists from Queen’s University Belfast in North Ireland, in a study published in Animal Behaviour, conducted a series of experiments on 42 kitties to discover if they are left- or right-pawed.

In two of the experiments, in which the cats had to reach for a toy mouse, the kitties were ambidextrous. But in the third experiment—in which bits of tuna were placed in a jar for a cat to fish out—showed a definite paw preference: 20 out of 21 female subjects used their right paw, and 20 out of 21 male subjects used their left.
