Turn Your Hybrid Car Into High Fashion Art

Posted by Zeon Santos in Art, Art & Design, Auto & Transportation, Fashion, Living, Pictures on December 2, 2011 at 1:38 am

Lexus claims that their new CT Hybrid is 90% recyclable, and they aim to prove it by having designers create fashion art pieces out of various car parts for “The Lexus Fashion Workshop”.

The pieces will be shown in the January 2012 issue of Vogue magazine, and there’s no word yet on whether the automotive fashion pieces will then be turned back into a car and driven away after the photo shoot. This line gives new meaning to the phrase “check out her headlights.”

Giant Junkbots Made From Car Parts

Posted by Zeon Santos in Art, Art & Design, Auto & Transportation, Living, Pictures on November 19, 2011 at 12:24 am

These amazing metal sculptures, constructed out of old car and truck parts, are impressive in scale and design. Created by Tom Samui, these creations belong in a steampunk animal menagerie, or used as the coolest junkyard advertising ever.

These sculptures seem like a logistical nightmare, I mean how does he move this massive piece, with a crane? A gallery would have to be built around this piece, cause it ain’t coming in through the front door!

The Car Parts Sculptures of James Corbett

Posted by John Farrier in Art on December 1, 2009 at 5:03 pm

Australian artist James Corbett began sculpting old car parts in 1999 while managing a car recycling business in Brisbane. Eighteen months later, he closed the shop and turned pro. Corbett never bends the parts, but uses the existing shapes to create (comparatively) realistic forms. Gallery at the link.
