Looks like some people had a great time at a party. Tons of cupcakes, sweets, and ... what are those yucky ashtrays and cigarette butts doing on the table?

Turns out, those are edible ashtrays by Miss Cakehead and Nevie Pie Cakes. They also came up with this one below, which includes blackened cancer lung cookies. Yum! Or Yuck! Or ... both? Yuckm!

Jen Yates has a roundup of cake wrecks celebrating the Super Bowl. Can you decipher the message on these cupcakes?
HINT: It’s starts with the word “gone.”
Both teams are represented equally in the collection at Cake Wrecks. Link

Believe it or not, this is a completely edible cake. A 6′ 4″ tall Storm Trooper cake was constructed by Amanda Oakleaf Cakes for the Arisia Sci-Fi Convention in Boston. The project took ten people two weeks of work, but how they did it is no secret. By popular demand, the bakery posted a photo gallery that depicts the process of building the cake, which was later consumed by around 600 fans. Link -via Boing Boing

Sure this Dalek looks cute on the outside, but it’s even better than it looks -when you crush the chocolate shell top with a wooden sonic screwdriver , you can find a tentacled Dalek inside. You can find directions to make your own at the link.

Bite into this stylish cake and it just might bite you back. Featuring Solid Snake from the Metal Gear video game series riding on a Velociraptor, I guess during his visit to Jurassic Park. It’s a beautiful cake, and the 16 year old recipient is one lucky kid!

There’s no tastier holiday tradition than creating your very own gingerbread house. If you aren’t very talented at sealing cookie bits together, like I am, even your best homes probably look like they’re ready to be condemned upon completion. Fortunately, not everyone is so inept at gingerbread creations and many creators go on to put together their own delightfully geeky designs. Here are some of the best nerdy gingerbread creations around.
They may not be the most artistic gingerbread creations, but these super hero designs by Sugar Swings are certainly adorable and they look absolutely delicious as well.
For those who like their gingerbread men to be a little less chipper and lot more serious, these figureheads of Russian culture by Craftster forum user Woolylogic are a good choice. Choose between Turgenev, Dostoyevsky (above), Tolstoy and Gogol.
Sure anyone can make a one-room gingerbread shack, but turning a unique architectural design into a gingerbread creation takes a heck of a lot more skill. That’s why these great designs by real architecture firms went for so much money when they were auctioned off for charity. In fact, the one above, by Nick Milkovich Architects, Inc., sold for $610.
While this architectural marvel may not look familiar to everyone, Harry Potter fans will instantly recognize it as The Burrow, the adorably charming home of the Weasley clan. Creator mezcraft from the Craftster forums even added the special monogrammed sweaters Mrs. Weasley makes for each of her children at Christmas.
Of course, the most iconic Harry Potter building is Hogwarts and Britta’s incredibly detailed gingerbread version is an impressive tribute to the majesty of the world-famous wizarding school. Best of all, she’s even got pictures of the entire arduous process so you could attempt to make your own at home…with a whole lot of time and dedication.
I normally don’t have a problem with blood and guts, but when someone makes a gory mess out of something delicious it tends to kill my appetite. And those who enjoy eating roadkill will probably be disappointed by the lack of possum goodness, so it looks like this cake is another case of look but don’t slice. If anybody knows who created this bloody mess, I’d love to give credit where credit is due.
If you happen to be planning an Evil Dead themed wedding or birthday party, then this Necronomicon shaped cake was made just for you. Entitled the Necronomicnom, if you ingest a slice of this scary pastry, it’s sure to bring out some inner demons. Makes for one hell of a good time!
These fondant delights might not be the best tasting cakes ever, but they sure look cool, like edible works of video game art. The folks at OC’s Little Kitchen have created a few different Plants Vs. Zombies inspired cakes, and some really cute cupcakes, which are stylish, sculptural delights.

Alan Travers’ very first stop-motion animation was inspired when his girlfriend Dee said she’d made her “legendary chocolate biscuit cake so many times now that the ingredients could make it by themselves.” Watch them do just that! By the way, “biscuit” is the British term for what Americans call “cookies.” This video was entered in a competition. The voting is closed, but you can learn more about Dee and her cake at Cully & Sully. Link -via Laughing Squid

Feed me (this awesome cake), Seymour! Amber McKenney of Sweet on Cake bakery in the San Francisco Bay Area created this awesome Little Shop of Horrors cake for a guy who played the lead role in a local play.

These days, cake artists can look to painters and illustrators for inspiration, creating otherworldly cake creations that make you second guess cutting them up and eating them. This artwork cake by Dante Nuno of Fire and Icing is far too pretty to eat in my opinion!
Inspired by the painting “Descent” by Ray Caesar, this lovely lady has a squidly dress and trident, and stands astride an antique looking clock like a statue on a pedestal. Hit the link to see the painting which inspired this delicious work of art. What do you think, would you tear into this cake or attempt to preserve it for posterity?

Imagine receiving a cake in your honor that’s shaped like a foot! Cake Wrecks found five of them. One is for a podiatrist, one is a groom’s cake, and the others? Who knows! The cake shown here may be a commemoration of some sort of injury, but at least it doesn’t have a fungus or a toe-tag! Link
Sure anyone can eat their Thanksgiving meal, but it takes a truly creative mind to ignore the temptations of such delicious treats and instead turn their food into a work of art. Here are a few creators that know just how truly tasty a great work of art can be.
While there are tons of artists who work with food out there, Jason Mecier is the only one I could find that actually created a portrait using aspects of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Using turkey, sweet potatoes, corn, mushrooms, onions, green beans, cranberries and more, Mecier was able to construct a portrait of Sarah Hale, the woman largely considered responsible for the creation of a national Thanksgiving holiday. Personally, I couldn’t think of a more appropriate subject for a Thanksgiving meal artwork.
It might not be as artistic as some of the other creations on this list, but the Meta Turkey was the winner for Best Conceptual Turkey in the 2008 Turkey-shaped Jell-O Mold Competition. So what makes a turkey mold become a Meta Turkey? It must contain aspects of all parts of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, including turkey, cranberry sauce, gravy, stuffing and mashed potatoes.
This entrant into the 2008 Turkey-shaped Jell-O Mold Competition might just be the only artwork on this list that you would actually want to serve at your own Thanksgiving meal. That’s because aside from its strange turkey shape, the sweet potato pineapple casserole adorned with marshmallows and pecans looks simply delicious. Of course, I would recommend toasting the marshmallows before serving, but that’s just me.
These Apple-themed cake pops will be part of the Steve Jobs Inspired Cake Shop, a fundraiser in London next Wednesday for the organization Pancreatic Cancer UK. It’s part of series of events called Internet Week Europe. Oh yes, they’ll have candied apples, too! Find out more at Cakehead Loves Evil. Link
This dessert looks creepy, but it’s actually delicious cake with brain-shaped frosting and a bit of raspberry jelly for blood, all stuffed on a jar. The instructions for making your own are at Living Locurto. Link -via Everlasting Blort
Vivi Rrr was asked to bring a “sciency” dessert to a lab party, and so made a cake in the shape of a Venn diagram. This cake illustrates Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory by using angel food cake, devil’s food cake, and a combination of the two where they intersect. What’s even better, she posted the process of making it, so you can make one, too! Link
You expect junk food to have movie tie-ins, but this one goes the extra mile for silliness. Hostess has two new color schemes in their snack cake line for Transformers 3: the pictured Snoballimus, colored like Optimus Prime, and Chocwave, which resembles Shockwave (if the character was a cupcake). Welcome to my nightmare tonight, o fanged cake. Hi Fructose showcases the latest work of sculptor Scott Hove, whose new series aptly titled "Your Deadly Desserts" is all about cakes with fangs, tongues and teeth, and even a dismembered limb or two.

Ray Basile of Zombie Wagon made zombie cupcakes for the opening of his zombie art exhibit. Then he posted the step-by-step instructions so you can make your own for a birthday party, Halloween party, or just because you like zombie cupcakes! Link
When we were very young, we learned how to place things in order: first second, third, fourth, fifth, etc. Some of us went on to decorate cakes that wished children a Happy Birthday with their age specified as an ordinal number. But occasionally, the numeric abbreviation for an ordinal gets messed up. Cake Wrecks has eight, count ‘em, eight cakes with the ordinals 1th, 2th, and 3th. Link

I've got a feeling that it probably took Carla Ikeda of Dentro Do Forno (previously on Neatorama) more than a hard's day night to create The Beatles' Yellow Submarine cake. (And how could one cut into such a cake? I'd just let it be ...)
So money can't buy you love, but it sure can buy an awesome cake (and of course, some cool Yellow Submarine stuff over at the NeatoShop)
Look at these adorable cupcakes! DeviantART member tomo-chi made mushrooms and Goombas from the world of Mario, with green ice cream cones serving as pipes. Link -via Buzzfeed
This space core from the game Portal 2 is a cake! Yes, it’s a cake, not a sculpture or toy. To prove it, here’s a picture of the cake being cut. It was made by Mike’s Amazing Cakes. You can see more pictures of the space core cake at Flickr.
-Thanks, Richard!

I know it’s a heart attack on a plate, but this fried pound cake peanut butter and jelly sandwich looks so delicious to me -and I don’t even like peanut butter! Would you guys try it or is it just another nasty overindulgence that belongs on This Is Why You’re Fat?
Charm City Cakes prove themselves to be true wizards of cake decorations with this fantastic Hogwarts cake for the Harry Potter premiere in New York City.
I so would’ve scarfed down the whole thing, had I not already been victimized by the evil "chubbify" spell

Jamie Masterson looked at Angry Birds from a non-cartoony point of view when he and his wife made this cake for the Threadcakes baking competition. Bakers pick a favorite Threadless T and create an edible version of it. In this case, the eggs, birds, slingshot, crown and the pig’s ears are all made of modeling chocolate; the rest of it is delicious cake. Here’s the original t-shirt – I think the likeness is pretty sweet.

Cakehead Loves was commissioned to provide a “disturbing edible experience” based on a scene from the Silent Hill video game for an Alice Cooper freak show audition. Among the gruesome treats to be offered at the event tomorrow is this Silent Hill Nurse Cake by Mamma Jamma Cakes. It was made from six stacked chocolate cake layers and is completely edible. This is some great viral marketing for the new Transformers movie, but it’s still really cool. The team from “Cake Boss” created a replica of the Bumblebee – Camaro Transformer out of cake. After all that work I can’t imagine anyone actually eating it; plus it might fight back. See full clip at the link.
