Artist Mia Pearlman creates some unique and interesting installations in the form of swirling paper tornadoes, which look far less dangerous than the real thing yet are far more likely to paper cut you to smithereens.
Capturing the feeling of turbulent motion and the random shapes found in a funnel cloud, Mia’s massive cut paper artworks fill the room with a sense of wonder and probably look really neat when a light breeze sweeps through.

The Avengers are such an iconic team of superheroes that it seems fitting for them to be celebrated by working them into an iconic painting.
Argentinian artist Julian Totino Tedesco shows his love for the classics and comic books with his piece The Birth Of Black Widow, which is based on Botticelli’s masterpiece The Birth Of Venus and was used as the alternate cover art for Fantastic Four #17.
Venus is cool and all, but Black Widow has a much higher body count, and a skin tight black suit to match.

These sea creature shaped pancakes put the mmm in nom nom nom, and they’re so cool looking it’s a shame somebody gobbled them all up!
They are featured by N. Shields on the art of breakfast foods site Saipancakes, where you can drool over many more works of pancake art, including a fun series based on mythological beasts.

Admit it Futurama fans, you’ve always wanted Fry & Leela to hook up, but have you ever wondered what the long-term effects of their love would be? These two youngsters seem like a pretty good guess.

Okay, I have to get my hands on one of these awesome whiteboard shirts! However, I’m guessing it’s pretty hard to draw upside down, at least until your brain gets used to it.
Become a master like Phil Hansen, who quickly sketches 38 different portraits of cinematic badasses on his shirt, and you too can have the fame and critical acclaim afforded to those who keep the interwebs entertained. Yay for creativity!
This vibrant rainbow circle was created by artist David Waller, who rounded up 6,000 toy cars he’s collected since childhood and arranged them into rings of color, reminiscent of an OCD sufferer’s childhood memory.
Hit the jump to see a fun close-up shot that looks like a traffic jam in Toyland, and a contrasting shot of the cars lined up in no particular order of color. *gasp*
Hoth is a beautiful, but inhospitable land. In fact, it’s so rough that even when shot in Lego version, it still seems terrible rather than silly -with the exception of those sweet pictures of Darth and the storm troopers skiing.
Don’t you hate it when you lose your appetite because your lunch looks like it wants to eat you?!
It takes a lot of guts to chow down on these horrifying bento boxes, and having an affinity for food shaped like internal organs doesn’t hurt.
I wonder what they used to make that nasty looking tongue?

What’s a companion cube without a companion? Finally you can make a Chell amigurumi plush along with your companion cube so you aren’t stuck with only half of the famous Portal team.

If The Avengers was a stage play in 1887 rather than a movie in 2012, then the Black Widow would still be just as sexy…just in a completely different way. So would Princess Leia, Cat Woman, Wonder Woman and Red Sonia. Depending on where you stand on historical lingerie, you may, or may not, prefer these antique versions (I personally do). Needless to say, some of the pictures are a touch risque although none of them feature nudity or anything too raunchy.
Heather Sitarzewski decided one day that she wanted to try making her son a bento box for his school lunch every day for the next year. After getting her bearings, she started to create some wonderful and amazing designs that she would then go on to post on her Facebook. Soon enough a Tumblr ensued and now you can enjoy her great artworks on a regular basis. Let’s just hope she doesn’t stop at the end of this school year.

If you’re going to work somewhere awesome like the Sesame Workshop, then you’d hope that the decor would reflect just how amazing your workplace is. In this particular case, it certainly does. That’s because the walls are chalkboards and artist Louis Henry Mitchell drew fantastic murals of the show’s most famous characters on them.

Is it just me or does Winterfell somehow seem like it would be tastier than Heineken? And, of course, Night’s Watch would certainly be better than MGD because, well, anything is better than Miller. But I guess I’m a bit of a beer snob.

Anime girls may look cute in the cartoons, with their big, bright eyes and pinched features, but translating them to real life makes them just plain creepy.
If you see a girl that looks like this coming your way, eyes wide open and mouth agape, you’d better make a break for it because she may be after your soul!
Photographer Chris Scarborough apparently likes the look of the anime ladies, so he’s created an entire series of manipulated photos showing what they might look like in real life. All I can say about this series is AAAAGGGGHHHH!!

Ok, so maybe dressing up for Dia de los Muertos for Cinco de Mayo isn’t really what they do in Mexico, but hey, it’s not even really that big of a holiday there either. Regardless, these cool Dia de los Muertos versions of classic sci fi and fantasy characters are certainly entertaining.
Romantics like to keep photos of the people they love in heart-shaped lockets, but for those that have more cerebral relationships, this brain-shaped locket is a great alternative. It also works well for zombies to remember the loved ones whose brains they consumed.
Talented make up artist Jangsara created an entire series of make up styles for The Avengers, one for each character. Personally, I love The Hulk look. If you’d like to learn how to do the looks at home, you’re in luck if you like the Iron Man or Captain America, but they both seem a bit extreme for most women (drag queens would absolutely love them though).

This candy covered Huffy bike by Britta Hope looks like a dream come true for a sugarholic like me!
It’s a good thing there’s a real bike under all that candy, because I’d probably end up eating an entire wheel, or taking a big old bite out of the frame and then I’d end up without a set of wheels.
Britta clearly understands the needs of those of us with an insatiable appetite for sweets, since she intended the bike to be a cupcake delivery vehicle. Why don’t we have those in real life?!

Your favorite Nickelodeon characters get serious as they don the battle gear worn by Earth’s mightiest heroes, The Avengers!
I guess Dennis Culver, the artist behind this wacky animation mashup, is as excited about The Avengers movie as the rest of the interwebs. And his SpongeThor SquareGirdle really put a smile on my face.
Nicktoons pretending to be Marvel superheroes would be awesome to see in an animated form, too bad the legal conflicts between the two entertainment juggernauts would prevent this fun mashup from ever being made. A geek can dream, can’t he?!

Jason Edmiston confirms what I’ve always suspected-some of the biggest legends in rock and roll history are actually monsters in disguise!
Watch them shred, claw and roar their way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, one twisted chord at a time.
I’m surprised Keith Richards isn’t featured among this motley crew, because there has to be monster blood pumping through his veins for him to have lived this long!

Referring to Tony Stark as “bright” is an understatement, but this stained glass lampshade, made by DeviantARTist mclanesmemories and shaped like Iron Man’s helmet, is certainly a bright idea in home decor!
The geometric stained glass look is pretty square, representing Tony’s scientific side, while the vibrant colors reveal the billionaire playboy beneath the armor. This is quite possibly the classiest piece of Iron Man themed art work ever made!

For those refined geeks who just can’t stand how cheap and tawdry modern chemistry sets tend to be, Art. Lebedev Studio has created this gorgeous and classy set modeled after fine China. I don’t know about you guys, but I absolutely love the tiny biohazard icons featured on a few of the pieces.
Absurd Overheard brings Tweets to life with a bit of color, and an illustrated twist on the words being magically Tweeted through the air by the interwebs.
The drawing above is from a Tweet by Matt Saunders (@rabbitportal) via Twitter–”Someone should make a dog chew in the shape of a pipe so when they are carrying it around they look like dapper gents.” I concur, fine sir!
Check out these hilarious illustrations at the link below, they’ll put a smile on your face-which will replace the other expression you had on your face before you looked at them all.
Designed to proudly share your Forever Alone status with the world, this Rage Faces inspired statue was first 3d printed then cast in an extremely limited run, so the creators Matt Scone and Sanden Henning could get a sense of what producing their own toy would cost.
Hopefully Matt and Sanden will consider casting another batch since the Forever Alone statue sold out so quickly, or maybe they’ll continue the Rage Faces series so we can collect ‘em all!

These wire mesh works by Chinese artist Shi Jindian may look like the wireframe view of a 3d object, or some sort of digital art projection, but these fantastically fine sculptures are the real deal, and they’re constructed inch by inch from woven mesh.
Here’s more on the process:
Shi Jindian process involves wrapping the wires around every square inch of the object and then carefully removing or destroying the object, leaving only its wire mesh skeleton
It’s amazing how much detail Shi put into each piece, and the look of each object must change a bit depending on the direction the viewer is facing. Nicely wired indeed!

Most women aren’t known for being cold and emotionless, but for those of you who wish you could be, this Dalek dress is a great first step towards that goal. If you want to make your own, there are step-by-step pictures over at the link so you can get ready to “exterminate.”

Painter Conrad Ruiz will never be accused of lacking in imagination, nor will he catch flack for his misuse of color.
His watercolor paintings are an explosion of vibrant hues, pop culture references and an attempt to capture the look and feel of total chaos.
Conrad’s other works employ repetition and rhythm to create an interesting optical effect, not necessarily an illusion as much as a field of fine detail for your eyes to get lost in forever.
Artist BenEverywhere decided to drop $200 on McDonald’s hamburgers in order to make this mummy/skeleton monstrosity.
Why would he do such a thing, you may ask? Because he wants to prove that McDonald’s no longer makes food, they make a medium for morbid sculptures.
He combined the burgers with a little bit of resin to show the world that McDonald’s food is so full of preservatives that it will literally last forever.
Well, I guess I’m adding a trip to McDonald’s to my will, who needs embalming fluid when you’ve got the Big Mac?!
