What is It? game 343

Hey, how about a game of What Is It? from our friend at the the What Is It? Blog. If you have any idea what the pictured object is, you are way ahead of me. But whether you do or don't, you have an opportunity to win a T-shirt from the NeatoShop just by commenting!

Place your guess in the comment section below. One guess per comment, please, though you can enter as many as you'd like. You might know the true answer, but we're going to select two winners who come up with the funniest, most outlandish guesses to win a T-shirt from the NeatoShop. However...

Please write your T-shirt selection alongside your guess. If you don't include a selection, you forfeit the prize, okay? It would help us if you added the artist's name or a URL, since we now have so many shirts to select from. May we suggest the Science T-Shirt, Funny T-Shirt and Artist-Designed T-Shirts?

You can see all kinds of mystery items at the What Is It? Blog. The let your imagination run wild! Good luck!

Update: This items is a true what-is-it, since we still don’t know exactly what it is. We’re still looking for its true use! But meanwhile, y’all have come up with some crazy ideas. Congratulations to John D, who said,

That would be a planchette lock to keep the spirits and demons contained when not being used on the ouija board.

And to Hipshot, who had a story:

This is the one of 17 (don’t ask why) tread/gears fabricated for the Dalek stair climber assembly. Turns out they learned to levitate prior to the prototype being finished, so they ended up taking up space in the corner of a garage somewhere until someone got the idea they could be fashioned into combination retro bottle opener/shoelace irons.

Both win a t-shirt from the NeatoShop! Thanks to everyone who played along, and stay tuned for the next What Is It? game from the What Is It? blog and Neatorama!

A subterranean walker frame or rollator for the elder star-nosed mole.
Here a short quotation from the advertising flyer:
The side rollers provide superior guidance in the tunnels of his burrow. The hole in front of the rear handle allows the Star nosed mode to use his nose to sniff over and under the rollator, while holding the rollator with his hands and pushing it forward with his rear feet. Due to the conical shape the elder star-nosed mole may even glide thorough the earth to form new tunnels while the rollers push the soil aside and simultaneously compacting the tunnels walls to achieve more stable burrows with less effort.

That is Patrick Star's prosthetic. See, in the patty accident of '12, Spongebob was making a batch of Krabby Patties. Unknown to him, Mr. Krabs had decided to lace the secret sauce with an explosive compound in a quest to blow up the Krusty Krab and collect the insurance money. Spongebob had enlisted the help of his friend that day since he knew how much he loved tarter sauce. Patrick was enjoying his vat of said sauce while Spongebob mixed the patties. The explosion was so massive that our yellow friend was killed instantly. Patrick lost an arm and do to complications it wouldn't grow back. After exacting revenge on Mr. Krabs, he fashioned this arm so that he made roll through the streets of Bikini Bottom, in remembrance of his spongy friend.

It's the tool of choice for a futuristic new sport called "Hand Skating". Along with a set of elbow, knee, and face protection, this new sport combines the joys and the pitfalls of ice-skating, roller blading, and walking on your hands, while providing all the dangers of hockey and football, without even needing those pesky parts, such as scoring and sticks.
