Facts You May Not Know About Disney's Adventureland

Disney's Adventureland has been overshadowed by flashier theme park areas like Toon Town or Tomorrowland, but back in the early days of Disneyland it was considered the most exotic and exciting part of the park.

Adventureland has it all- a boat cruise that takes visitors down the wildest rivers in the world, a Hawaiian-themed show where the birds all sing and the flowers croon, and a thrilling yet bumpy ride starring Indiana Jones.

But Adventureland was really different on paper- the Jungle Cruise didn't have any witty banter, there was supposed to be an Indiana Jones mine cart roller coaster in addition to the Jeep Ride, and the Enchanted Tiki Room was originally supposed to be a restaurant.

The singing plants in the Tiki Room may be fake, but the plants seen on the Jungle Cruise are the real deal- and really beautiful:

Morgan “Bill” Evans, Disneyland’s establishing horticulturist, turned the orange groves of Anaheim into a lush, low-key arboretum that includes a $100,000 palm tree, species of ficus he himself brought into California and even Queen palms native to Brazil that were rescued from the Santa Ana Freeway. The trees have reached up to 70 feet tall, creating a canopy—and plant life that thrives in the shade below—that’s truly reminiscent of its territories.

The blatant reference to "I love you" from the movie Princess Bride clearly proves... that we are on the same page :) Let the haters hate. Keep on with what you love. Disney doesn't do it ALL right, BUT what they do right (and that makes sense for all), they nail it. Nobody can do it what's satisfies everyone, but they should be encouraged for doing good when they get it right.

The reason I post stuff about Disneyland is because I love going there, and since I post stuff that I find interesting we share articles about Disneyland for people who enjoy going to Disneyland like we do. I share articles I find interesting regardless of sandyra's personal feelings about what I'm posting, and since there are plenty of other people who enjoy reading Disney theme park lore we regularly share those kinds of articles.

And while we're on the subject of corporations suing people you do realize Universal Studios is owned by NBCUniversal, and they have sued plenty of people over the licenses they own as well (Harry Potter and the Minions, just to name a few). So saying "this corporation is better than that corporation and deserves major props!" is pure hypocrisy, and to be fair Universal Studios Orlando doesn't have a history like the Disney parks so there's not much posted about them besides promotional material.

I like that you read our blog and feel so personally about it, sandyra, but I'm going to keep posting stuff about Disney whether you like it or not because you're not our only reader. So you can keep leaving your "I hate Disney" comments every time you see a post or you can just get over it and move on. It's really your choice, I just thought I'd offer you an explanation of why I share Disney posts, and why I'm not about to stop posting them just because you keep singin' that song "sandyra don't like it (rock the casbah)".

Neatorama seems to have a keen interest in promoting all things Disneyland and Disneyworld. I wonder why? I, personally, refuse to have anything to do with Disney 'anything' since I intensely dislike them suing small mom and pop pre-schools who have the audacity to paint Mickey or Donald Duck on their schools' outside walls for copyright infringement. Yeah, Disney is really cool and happy, right? No, I don't think so...
This site could easily focus on Universal, Orlando and give them some major props. They don't seem to be quite so manic or negative to people.
