David Lynch's Return of the Jedi
In 1981, George Lucas approached David Lynch about directing the third film of the Star Wars trilogy. It was not to be, but Lynch went on to direct Dune in 1984, so there is some source material for an imagined Lynch-directed Return of the Jedi.
