Renaming Football Teams After The Star Wars Universe

Superbowl XLVIII is over, but the football themed posts are still coming out, thanks to the interest in the sport generated by the big game. But whether you like football, or don't care for it all, you have to admit that these logo redesigns are incredibly bold, and incredibly geeky.

Graphic Designer John Raya reimagines NFL/football team logos based on elements from the Star Wars universe, with team names like the Hoth Tauntauns, Coruscant Jedis and Mos Eisley Troopers that might actually work for the NFL.

Too bad licensing issues would prevent such a thing from ever happening, but I bet more people would watch the game if a bunch of Wookiees took to the field and squared off against a pack of wiry Tusken Raiders.

There are 32 Star Wars NFL designs in the series, with both National and American Leagues represented, and you can see them all over at 22 Words.
