Amazing Furniture for Kids

Kids' furniture has come a long way. You're not stuck with decorating a room in primary colors anymore - today's options are just as cool (if not cooler) than what's out there for adults. They're just as expensive, too, but if money is no object for you, here are some amazing pieces of furniture to consider putting in your child's room... or in your room, if you're young at heart.

You can indulge your child's sweet tooth in a big way with this ice cream cookie bench/table/ottoman. They'll be surprised if they try to sink their teeth into the delicious-looking dessert, though - the "chocolate" cushions are canvas and the "ice cream" center is velvet. It's at Jellio for a cool $1,050. If you preferred the ice cream sandwich as a kid instead of the ice cream cookie, don't worry - they have that too.

Also at Jellio? This sweet cupcake seat. The price is a bit easier to swallow at $900. You can get a matching cupcake wrapper table to go with it.

This would be cool in a little boy's room with a cowboy theme - a mirror with a design based on old cap gun cartridges.

It would go great with this Chuckwagon Bed from PoshTots. Only $15,000!

Or how about a mirror based on a Viewmaster slide?

Straight Line Designs is home to some furniture that will boggle your kids' minds - and yours, too. Check out this dresser that looks like it's been gnawed on by a dinosaur-sized beaver:

And this accordion-style dresser:

As a total bookworm growing up, I would have loved to have owned this bed - it makes for easy access to books when reading under the covers with a flashlight. The bed was created by architecture firm Point Tokyo. Doesn't the view from the inside look cozy?

If you're the DIY type and the Star Wars type, you can make your kids an AT-AT Walker bunk bed. This one happens to be three levels, but there's a slightly-more-sane single level one out there too. You can see him building it at Instructables.

If you've got a little girl who's more Princess Aurora than Princess Leia, never fear - there's a cool bed for her, too. In fact, there are tons of princess coach beds out there, but I've not seen one more ornate than this one at La Belle Au Bois:

How would you ever go to sleep in an swashbuckling bed like this from Olivia and Will?

Slightly simpler is this fun toadstool seat that would fit neatly in any woodland-themed or Alice in Wonderland-themed room.

On the more modern side of things, this birch and vinyl table-and-chair set from Pkolino slides neatly together to save space, which always seems to be at a premium in toy-laden children's rooms.

Here's a jolly-looking wardrobe from Japanese designer Hiromatsu.

Trying to get your kids to eat a wider variety of things? Introduce them to sushi via furniture first, then maybe eating it won't be quite so foreign. These poufs from Sushiami come in Cucumber or Cali, and at $100, they seem like a downright bargain compared to some of the other prices on this list!

At $85,000, these limited edition pieces aren't actually for kids, unless you have a budget that doesn't mind children being hard on your small house-priced chair. But doesn't it look like something kids would enjoy? Fernando and Humberto Campana only made 20 of these, and the teddy bear version appears to have sold out. If you want one and teddies aren't your thing, they also have versions made with sharks, pandas, alligators and a mix of wild animals.
