This is the final leg in its 1,395-mile journey by truck and boat from the Czech Republic, where it was constructed.

The pharaoh required more than 200,000 Lego bricks and weighs one ton.

Legoland in Carlsbad, California has a new display in honor of the presidential inauguration Tuesday. The park has modified its US Capitol model to portray Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, president Bush, Dick Cheney, Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, and the other dignitaries who will be present as Obama takes the oath of office, as well as the crowd! In addition to the swearing-in ceremony, see Aretha Franklin ready to entertain and the presidential motorcade waiting to join the inaugural parade. The display opens to the public today. Pictured is a detail showing George H.W. Bush nodding off. SF Weekly has a slide show featuring many other details. Link -Thanks, Janine Kahn!

Just place the scrambled cube on Tilted Twister’s turntable. An ultrasonic sensor detects its presence and starts to read the colors of the cube faces using a light sensor. The robot turns and tilts the cube in order to read all the faces. It then calculates a solution and executes the moves by turning, tilting and twisting the cube.

Legomaniacs, you can do more than just build things from Legos! Display your passion in your home with furnishings made from Lego bricks, home products from the Lego company, and products that have that familiar (if not company-sanctioned) shape. See a roundup of these products at mental_floss. Shown is a sofa you could assemble from interlocking blocks sold by a French company.

Welcome to Mustaneer! (it’s not as distant as Mustafar) Basically it’s a Rebel attack on an Imperial base and mining installation. About a year in the making, on and off, it is 75 by 125cm and all built in 1:200 scale. I’ve taken LOADS of pictures (OK, I’ve taken too many) but I’ve tried to write something interesting with each, so if you have a bit of spare time join me on a journey to a galaxy far far away….
