Harpuahound, a member of the Engraver’s Cafe forum, made this wonderful ring with the TARDIS in the middle, the Starfleet logo on one side and (not shown) the space shuttle on the opposite side. Is the shuttle an Armageddon reference?

Want to know what two googly eyed chins thought about the blockbuster movie The Avengers? They loved it, and if you have a strange sense of humor you’ll love watching them talk about The Avengers, and other weird stuff, like a pair of real life chinigans.

Spoiler alert: the chins talk about something that happens within the first ten minutes of the film, so if you’re worried about going in to see the movie without knowing anything about it don’t watch. Otherwise, enjoy the madness review!

Tyler Garcia found a vinyl record of Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” and, like Michelangelo and the stone, saw an AT-AT inside. Also, a clock.

Each one of his handcrafted vinyl cuttings, most of which do not have Star Wars themes, is made to order.

Animated Short – Apocalypse Pizza Video

(YouTube Link)

It’s good to know that if we ever find ourselves in the midst of a zombie apocalypse we’ll still be able to order out for pizza and a video!

The team behind Apocalypse Pizza Video are hoping to turn their project into a feature film, and by the look of this trailer it could be a lot of fun to watch! (NSFWish due to coarse language and humor)

Your Case Mod Wants to Step Out On the Town

Posted by Jill Harness in Art, Art & Design, Design, Entertainment, Film, Science Fiction on May 13, 2012 at 11:33 pm

I’ve seen my share of case mods, but this one is seriously impressive. Of course, while it looks amazing, it also seems like a huge pain in the butt to actually use on a real basis. I mean, who has room for this thing on their desk?

Custom Made Gears Of War Replica Shotgun

Show your fellow cosplayers that you mean business with this DIY Gears Of War replica shotgun, which lets you load actual shells and scare the crap out of anyone suckered in to believing it actually fires live ammo.

Student Builds Fully Functional Portal Turret

Posted by Zeon Santos in Entertainment, Gaming, Robot, Science & Tech, Science Fiction, Video Clips on May 13, 2012 at 4:35 pm

(YouTube Link)

YouTube user kss5095 decided to get creative and show his love of video games at the same time with his final project for Advanced Mechatronics at Penn State, so he built a fully functioning turret like you’d find in the video game series Portal.

The turret is so sweet that it even has a soothing voice recording, which lures you out of hiding so it can blast you with laser guided NERF missiles.

This guy has a long career ahead of him in either animatronics or engineering weapons for the military, but for now he has the ultimate home defense system at his disposal, that is once he upgrades to live rounds!

Animated Short – The Big Eating

(YouTube Link)

The Brood Princess is hungry, so a few industrious little aliens hit that buffet counter known as Earth to find her the perfect meal, in episode 2 of Invageddon called “The Big Eating”.

This animated short delivers plenty of laughs, and the style reminds me of the video game series Alien Hominid, so it’s a win-win for cartoon fanatics like me!

If you enjoyed this short then head over to the StarArena YouTube page and check out the other animated mayhem they have to offer, it’s a good waste of time!

The Harsh Realities of Hoth

Posted by Jill Harness in Art, Art & Design, Entertainment, Photography, Science Fiction, Toys, TV on May 9, 2012 at 12:21 am

Hoth is a beautiful, but inhospitable land. In fact, it’s so rough that even when shot in Lego version, it still seems terrible rather than silly -with the exception of those sweet pictures of Darth and the storm troopers skiing.

Pot-Wearing Dalek Impersonator Sings “King of the Road”

The Dalek Empire has fallen on hard times, according to Martyn Crofts. Here he is on Britain’s Got Talent singing Roger Miller’s “King of the Road.” His costume is slightly inferior to that of the first Daleks to appear on Doctor Who. It’s a pot on his head.

Mr. Crofts did not win, which I think is a travesty.

If Your Favorite Geek Gals Were Created 100 Years Ago

If The Avengers was a stage play in 1887 rather than a movie in 2012, then the Black Widow would still be just as sexy…just in a completely different way. So would Princess Leia, Cat Woman, Wonder Woman and Red Sonia. Depending on where you stand on historical lingerie, you may, or may not, prefer these antique versions (I personally do). Needless to say, some of the pictures are a touch risque although none of them feature nudity or anything too raunchy.
