Caption Monkey 25: Toilet Uh Oh!

Photo: massdistraction [Flickr]

Folks, it’s time for this week’s Neatorama and Hobotopia’s Caption Monkey game. But first, the story behind this photo, from Flickr user massdistraction:

I’m going to burn in hell for posting this…but here’s the story. Many years ago the little man went to daycare daily, while I worked full-time. He wasn’t yet potty-trained but would wander into their bathroom, express some interest (as the older kids used the potty) then wander out again. Usually. On this day he somehow managed to get himself stuck in the toilet. The daycare provider’s first instinct was to grab a camera and snap off a photo before helping him out. I was both appalled and amused (and felt guilty for the latter).

Meet the Laugh-Out-Loud CatsNow, on to the game: place your caption in the comment section. One caption per comment, please, but you can enter as many as you’d like. The funniest caption will get a prize: Adam "Ape Lad" Koford’s Meet the Laugh-Out-Loud Cats, which details the adventures of Kitteh and Pip in over 250 comic panels.

If you like Adam’s old-timey LOLcat cartoon (many found in his Flickr set), then you’ll love this book!

Good luck (if you don’t win, you can still get his book at Lulu).

Update 4/4/08: Congratulations to Nora whose caption “Mario Lied to Me!” won! Woohoo, way to go, Nora!

Caption Monkey 14: Fat Coot!

Photo: Chirpy UK [Flickr] - via Cute Overload

Whoa! I’ve been so busy with life/work/baby that I missed posting the Caption Monkey contest yesterday. But fret not, gentle readers, here it is.

The bird is a coot [wiki] - a particularly fat specimen of one, actually. Coots are named so because of their "coot" calls. No words whether those large toes help ‘em float on water.

Now, onto the contest. Ape Lad of Hobotopia has generously agreed to award a monkey (or any other animal) drawing to one lucky reader with the funniest caption.

Contest rules are darned simple: place your caption in the comment section below. One caption per comment, however you can submit as many funny ones as you can think of. You can also vote for your favorite caption, but not your own.

One last thing: Ape Lad is selling original Laugh-Out-Loud Cats comic for $20. Here’s your chance of getting one for Christmas!

Update 11/30/07 - congrats to RasmusJ #8 with the winning caption, picked by Ape Lad himself!

Harold wasn’t fond of bowling.

Caption Monkey 2: Alligator Knocking

Image Credit: Richard Holinski / Island Packet

A 6-foot-long alligator climbs within inches of the doorbell after knocking into the front door of Roslyn and Robert Loretta’s home on Penny Creek Drive in Sun City Hilton Head on Friday night. The reptile apparently was enticed into the couple’s yard by the smell of teriyaki chicken. Link - via Falling Sky

All right - here’s where you come in: funniest caption wins a free monkey drawing by Ape Lad of Hobotopia!

Contest rule is simple: write your caption in the comment section (one caption per comment). Make it funny but please keep it civil. You can submit as many comments as you’d like.

Funniest caption will receive a free monkey drawing - you name the monkey, and Ape Lad will draw you one (for example: the Neatorama Monkey and the whole Monkey! set at Flickr). If you don’t win, but still want a monkey, you can buy one directly from him (it’s worth it!)

And congratulations to Jani who won last week’s Caption Monkey contest.

Update 7/31/07: Congratulations to L’elk #47 for submitting the winning comment!

Realizing their passive approach isn’t winning them many followers, the Jehovah’s witnesses switch to plan B.

Very Bizarro-esque!

Caption Monkey 1: Balls of Steel.

(Yes, this was on Neatorama before)

Yay! I’m happy to announce a new collaboration with Ape Lad’s Hobotopia: a weekly caption contest where the funniest caption wins a free monkey drawing!

Contest rule is simple: one caption per comment, make it funny but please keep it civil.

Update 7/16/07: Congratulations to Jani #113 for the winning entry:

Never wear steel cap shoes in a battle against a monk, who is wearing an assmagnet.
