The Surreal Fantasy Animal World Of Femke Hiemstra

Animals may not understand the concept of Surrealism, but they make the perfect subjects for surrealist artwork because they're instantly identifiable no matter how much the artist mutates their natural form.

Dutch painter Femke Hiemstra places animals into strange and fantastic situations in her paintings, and even though the situations may be scary and dangerous her subjects are still animals after all, so they're born survivors.

After staring at an assortment of Femke's paintings the viewer is sure to have some wild and wonderful dreams, only instead of sugarplums the cats, foxes and squirrels will be doing all the dancing!
