Contemporary movies, set in the time the film was made, tend to use generic fashions so they don't become outdated quickly. Movies set in the past can pinpoint the fashions of the time, so they are more "retro-trendy" to specify the era. That's just one of many new things we'll learn about the art of movie costuming in this video.
