The Ann Arbor location of the chain Ruth’s Chris Steak House made an offer on Friday designed to appeal to Michigan football fans. They would offer a discount equal to Michigan’s margin of victory Sunday through Thursday following the game, for the rest of this season. On Saturday, the University of Michigan beat Rutgers 78-0. It was “the biggest margin of victory in a game between two top-division teams since the turn of the century.” Fans were excited at the prospect of getting 78% of their steaks this week.
But that won’t happen. Ruth’s Chris Ann Arbor capped the offer at 50%, although the initial Facebook post did not mention that. It was later amended to make the limit clear. Still, 50% off a steak dinner is going to fill the place every day, at least through Thursday. People across the region are calculating whether it's worth the drive to eat steak in Ann Arbor.
