Pet 'Possum

That is one fat ‘possum. Redditor P_bryant562 has a friend who works at a pet store and had to snap this customer. If it wasn’t a marsupial, you’d call this a Rodent Of Unusual Size. She’s obviously raised this opossum from a very young age, or else it would be skinny, bitey, and would not be wearing a tutu. In the discussion under this picture, there are many tales of more common, yet funny, encounters with yard vermin.

I did not know that about high blood pressure, but it does explain "playing possum." I'd always heard it was a defense mechanism, but a terribly ineffective one, considering all the roadkill.

I was a volunteer feeder/cleaner at a nature center back in the late 80's/early 90's. We had a possum named Penelope who was a huge fat animal. She smelled bad, could barely walk and was cross eyed. She had a friendly manner, as long as you had food for her, although wild possums can be very vicious and aggressive. Possums have very high blood pressure, which causes them to faint when they get frightened, so that old joke that possums are born dead on the side of highways isn't true.
