As game day approaches, some of us are hosting friends and family and whipping up an appetizing spread for buffet tables. Others have been asked to bring a dish to contribute to gatherings hosted by friends. Such buffet offerings are a highlight of parties like these, both for people who love sports and, especially, for their spouses or children who have limited interest in them.

One dish that's a winner with many is a juicy burger. While some people have developed their own unique methods for burger making, those who haven't cannot go wrong with a well-executed knock off of a beloved chain burger. Something realiably scrumptious, such as Shake Shack. The linked article contains recipe imitations of burgers from Shake Shack, Red Robin, Au Cheval, Smashburger and more. Give it a look and see if there's a juicy temptation for you within.

Checkers, IMO, has the perfect combo of condiments on their Big Buford but if it comes to sliders? There is a hole in the wall restaurant (more take-out than dine-in, but you can) in Livonia, Michigan. If you ever get there go to the crossroads of Farmington and 5 mile and you'll find Bate's hamburger restaurant. It's tiny, impossible to park but the food is wonderful. I am not a big fan of most french fries but they make crinkle cut fries that are perfectly cooked. So crisp (but not burnt) on the outside, soft, fluffy potatoes on the inside and a great taste. A bit of ketchup to finish it off and you will be in heaven. Their burgers are handmade. No fillers, nothing frozen. You will know and taste the difference. *sigh* Now I want to back there right now! Come July I will be!

Everyone has their ideal burgers. :)

I like it pretty simple, but I'm particular about a few things. I like the smashed kind with the thin, crispy edges like Steak and Shake or Shake Shack. I like American, Cheddar or "pub" cheese. Onion, but it has to be white onion. No red. Any lettuce can't be wilted or wimpy... preferably it's chopped iceberg or something crunchy. Dill pickles or pickle relish. Mustard and *a very light dose of* mayo = musts. I can handle a number of condiments unless they are dripping from and drowning the sandwich. I have to have a good bun that's oiled/buttered and toasted/grilled. Haha. Pretty picky, now that I'm reading back on it!

When I lived in Michigan we had a restaurant called "Uncle John's" on Telegraph road and they had a hamburger called 'the Hamburger Ranchero'. OMG! I was pregnant at the time and I craved these burgers like no other. It started out with a 1/2 pound hamburger topped with a fried egg, chili, cheese and ALL the fixings. I still dream of this burger once or twice a year...
