CDC Reviews America's Consumption of Fruits and Vegetables

The CDC released a review of how well America is doing in terms of eating the daily recommendation of fruits and vegetables. The recommended amount is two cups of fruit and three cups of vegetables per day. Americans ate only one cup of each daily, on average. Of all the states, California ate the most fruits and vegetables, but even their totals weren't all that good. Thirteen percent of California residents ate enough vegetables and seventeen percent ate enough fruit.

Very interesting stuff! Where it gets really complicated is trying to understand why Americans don't eat enough of their fruits and veggies, and then why these eating habits are so entrenched. In light of the overall costs to our health, it's a bit sad.
