Global bee populations have been in decline for quite some time, and yet we’re still scrambling to figure out how we can help them bounce back.
Some have turned to hybridization, others feel that limiting the use of certain pesticides and refraining from building cell phone towers in areas where bees thrive might be the answer, but Oslo, Norway has a far simpler idea.
Oslo is about to become the first city to install bee highways- a collection of flower covered rooftops meant to offer bees safe travel throughout the city. Here's what Agnes Lyche Melvaer, head of the environmental group behind this unique ecological project, has to say about the bee highway-
“We are constantly reshaping our environment to meet our needs, forgetting that other species also live in it, To correct that we need to return places to them to live and feed.”
