Raleigh Callaway, 49, is a police officer in Greensboro, Georgia. He was facing stage 5 kidney failure and couldn't find a donor. He was running out of options. So he posed for this photo with his wife and daughters and posted it on Facebook.

The photo went viral, attracting a lot of attention. Hundreds of people offered their help and got tested to see if they were suitable matches. One of them, Chris Carroll of McKinney, Texas, was. He traveled to Atlanta where, at Emory University Hospital, doctors transplanted one of his kidneys into Callaway.

Callaway and Carroll were strangers, but now they're friends. And what they've shared is continuing to give beyond just one kidney. Of the hundreds of people who got tested to help Callaway, 125 are still being considered for transplants for other patients.
