The Ten Biggest Dinosaur Mysteries We Have Yet to Solve

Paleontologists continue to find dinosaur fossils and reconstruct what kinds of animals they were. In just the last decade, our idea of dinos resembling large lizards has changed to a vision of colorful, feathered beasts of widely varying sizes. But as we learn more, other questions arise that we still cannot answer about this huge group of extinct animals. We don’t know much about how they spent their lives, since all we have are unmoving fossils. We don’t know which was the biggest, because they vary so much in shape -and species changed over time. Were they really cold-blooded, and how did that change over time? And what caused them to develop flight? Brian Switek gives us a look at what we know, and the continuing mysteries of what we don’t know about dinosaurs at Smithsonian.
