Like A Girl

(YouTube link)

Telling someone they do something “like a girl” has always been meant as an insult, and we internalized that at a very young age. No kid wants to be compared to a girl -even the girls! When I was young, we didn’t like it, but we just took it as the way things are. If we said anything about it, we were laughed at and labeled a “women’s libber” when I was young, or a “feminazi” today. This lesson in inferiority still goes on. Running or throwing badly has less to do with sex than it has to do with experience, training, and most of all, encouragement. Why bother to practice throwing a ball if you’re cursed with inferior ability?

Here we see kids acting out the familiar trope, and then being made aware of how wrong it is. Just knowing that someone sees through the poor choice of words is encouraging to young people. Always (a division of Procter & Gamble) is sponsoring a campaign to change the language we use when raising both girls and boys. -via Viral Viral Videos

"Feminazi" is an "extreme or militant feminist", and often seem to be misandrists.
If it's okay to hate on men for misogyny, it should be okay to hate on women for their version. Anything less isn't about equality, but about power.

Or, we could all toughen up and do the "sticks and stones thing", but I know today that's crazy-talk.
