Fondue Slippers

Satsuki Ohata, a designer in Tokyo, developed the Fondue Slipper--a custom-molded slipper. Like a good pair of pants, it's form fitted and clings to the shape of your body. It's called the Fondue Slipper because it's made by dipping the foot into a liquid, just like eating from a fondue pot.

The liquid in question is polyvinyl chloride heated to 392-572°F. Once there's a good layer of it on your foot, remove it from the pot and allow to it to cool. Once it's hardened, it'll slip on and off. You can wear the slipper inside or outside and easily wash it in a sink.

Ohata is working on a kit that will allow people to make their own Fondue Slippers at home. I can see at least one potential difficulty in this effort.
