Deer Rescued from Roof

(YouTube link)

Is Santa Claus missing a reindeer? It looks as if he left one behind in France! But this deer can't fly, or else he wouldn't be stuck on a roof in the town of Verneuil-sur-Indre. When an animal that normally doesn't hang around on roofs is seen up there, it's usually because the ground is much higher in the back of the building, allowing the beast to step on it. But when this deer reached the front, he found the shingles too slippery to negotiate. Villagers discovered him Tuesday morning, and spent three hours trying to help him. They finally got him onto a less slippery surface, so he could walk to the back of the building and let himself down. The news story is en Français. -via Daily Picks and Flicks

I guess it would have been too much to ask that they tried to find a slightly longer sheet or, you know, put something down on the ground in case the creature slipped and fell off the roof?
