Iceland, But Not Iceland

During their 91 days in Iceland, Mike Powell and Juergen Horn took a drive all the way around the country. This can be done in 16 hours in the ring road, but they took three weeks to see the sights. Near the remote town of Höfn, they spotted a strangely un-Icelandic sight:

On the way back toward the Ring Road, we were stopped by another strange construction on the peninsula: a circular cluster of turf-roofed buildings which looked like an abandoned fortification. I was confused; nowhere in my research on the area had I read about such a thing. And we had to get quite close before realizing that these buildings weren’t ancient at all, but quite new. On closer inspection, the giant rock in its center wasn’t rock at all… but styrofoam. After asking around in town, we learned that the fort had been built for a never-completed movie.

There's a series of pictures of the odd abandoned set, plus more scenery from the coastal tour at Iceland For 91 Days.
