This ad for a tampon delivery service features a 12-year-old who was the first at her summer camp to get her first period. The whole thing is quite funny and will no doubt benefit the company, but the most unrealistic parts are 1. summer camp that lasts more than five days, and 2. young girls who have regular cycles. Oh, and if you're squeamish, be warned that this contains girl talk. Link -via Daily of the Day
I agree with the latter, but I'd argue summer camps lasting longer than 5 days aren't uncommon. The one I went to was 3 weeks long, and I know some last the entire summer.

I find it highly unrealistic that 12-year-olds would use tampons.

Summer camps definitely last longer than five days. The Girl Scout camp my sister went to has kids over every weekend because they do two, three or even four weeks in a row. The soccer camps I went to did the same, and I was there for 13 nights and 14 days.

Lots of camps last longer than 5 days. I went to a few. Why do you need this service though? Can't you just discretely pack a few feminine products, for "just in case", and educate your daughter on what to do ahead of time?

Well, I gladly stand corrected on the camp thing. I just wish there were camps more than five days long within driving distance of where I live. 4H camp is three nights, conservation camp is four nights, and church camp is five. Everything else is daytime only. I went to girl scout camp for two weeks every year, but that was over forty years ago.

I'm not Jewish but my understanding is that Jewish summer camp can last a month or more. Maybe even all summer? If I had kids I might be studying to convert right now...
