What Is It? Game 278

'Tis Thursday, so you know what it means, Neatoramanauts: it's time for the What Is It? Game, brought to you by the always amusing What Is It? Blog.

What is the item above? Your guess can win you a free T-shirt of your choice from the NeatoShop. Here's how to play:

Place your guess in the comment section below. One guess per comment, but you can enter as many guesses as you'd like in separate comments. Post no URLs or weblinks.

Let's change it up a bit: we'll pick two winners who submit funny (albeit ultimately incorrect) guesses. If you guessed right, then good for ya - but you don't win anything, mmkay? (As you can see, this is the 278th What Is It? game we have on the blog, and the majority of them are won by the same people over and over again who're just really, really good at guessing correctly). So, it's up to you, funny people: you have twice the chance of winning that T-shirt now.

Please write your T-shirt selection alongside your guess. If you don't include a selection, you forfeit the prize. We highly suggest you take a look at the NeatoShop's new selection of Funny T-shirts and Science T-Shirts.

Ready? Go for it! (Don't forget to visit the What Is It? Blog for more clues!)

Update: It's a gym mat holder, as the answer page at the What Is It? blog said.

Neatoramanaut Ed Varga guessed it correctly first. There were a lot of great funny comments, but I love these two:

"Belt clip for cellular telegraph" by Tim Shay

"Genie bottle opener" by Joseph Francis (No T-shirt picked, however, so no prize)

Congrats to the winners! Thank you for playing, everyone! Catch another game of What Is It? next week!

It's obviously a stone age corner crimper for holding stone tablets together. I mean, they hadn't invented staples yet, had they?

Thank you.

This is an antique real doll support bracket used to hold the real doll by its pony tail when not in use. Antique real dolls were made of wood, iron and ivory (little known fact: their pony tails were made from real pony tails), they were much heavier than today's silicone and titanium real dolls, however the metaphorical weight of despair associated with the use of them has remained statistically even across the ages.

An iron piercing clamp. Place the part of the body to be pierced into the slot and have the victim, er...customer- pull back to engage the teeth. This holds the extremity and mitigates mistakes by preventing flinching(or fleeing) until the procedure is completed.

This is a puzzle toy similar to the Chinese finger trap except this one is attached high on a wall and the object is to stick your tongue into the device and then figure out how to get it back out.
