What Is It? game 265

W00t! It's time for another collaboration with the always-excellent What Is It? blog. Can you guess what this strange object is?

Put your guess in the comment section below (click the +). One guess per comment, though you can enter as many guesses as you'd like. Please do not post any web link or URL - doing so will void your entry. You have until the answer is revealed on the What Is It? Blog tomorrow.

Two prizes: the first correct guess and the funniest yet wrong one will win a T-Shirt from the NeatoShop.

IMPORTANT: Please write your prize selection alongside your guess, so visit the NeatoShop and take a look around. If you don't write your prize selection, then you don't get the prize. I think you'll like the selection of funny t-shirts and science t-shirts -or even t-shirts of your favorite blogs and websites.

For more mystery items to bend your brain, see to What Is It? Blog. Good luck!

Update: the pictured object is a homemade hammer. Berhard was first in with the correct answer, and wins a t-shirt! The funniest answer came from Algomeysa, who said, "If you're feeling left out because the Russian meteor didn't break your windows, you can alleviate the problem with this!" That deserves a t-shirt from the NeatoShop! See the answers to all this week's mystery items at the What Is It? blog.

"Me, Solomon Grundy, recommend meat tenderizer from Zombied Chef. When me have rest of Injustice League over for bar-be-cue, me always use Zombied Chef Jumbo Stone Smasher. It only meat tenderizer for me, Solomon Grundy."

This is a medieval tool used for reflex testing. It was commonly used as a threatening device by concerned mothers: "Eat your beets or I'll test your reflexes..."

HEY! A They Might Be Giants commemorative "we wanna rock." And I have been looking for this! You should sell it in the neatorama shop because everybody wants a rock to wind a metal thing around!

It's a firelighter. It would live in a pot with the rock submerged in kerosene then when you wanted to light the fire you'd stick it in the hearth, light the rock and put kindling on top.

It's an early version of the magnifying glass. Several were made, some out of stone, some out of gems. Though all of these were failures, they still made great paper weights!

It looks like an anchor, or at least part of a device that attaches a large object to a much larger object. I just can't imagine what the rock bit used to be. Part of a drawbridge?
