I'm sure all foodies are familiar with the food trends that made it on the hit list for 2013.

Some seem to have come out of nowhere (maximum kale), some have been resurrected as a food trend over and over again (pickling everything, Jell-O shots), all need to die in the new year.

There's bound to be more culinary trends comin' round the mountain, folks, let's put these old chestnuts in the fire where they belong!

I agreed with the writeup more than I expected to (since I really like kale, pickles, and use sriracha habitually on certain things). But they're right. (Even though I've been mercifully spared some of these habits.)

Small plate restaurants are expensive and tedious. All the bread I make is high gluten. Being in Orange County, Sriracha is inevitable.

On the other hand, No one I know talks about coffee, makes a swoosh, cooks with kale, smokes anything but meat, takes Jell-O shots or pickles anything but cucumber.
