If I had access to a TARDIS, my first thought would be: "How can I use this to make a lot of money?"
Adventuring? No, thank you. That's dangerous. Notice that bad things happen to the Doctor's companions. I'd consider travelling with the Doctor, but only if highly compensated for the risks involved.
