ParaNorman Mystery Box

Earlier this month, we got a mystery shipment: a wooden crate labeled Blithe Hollow Cemetery from our friend Laika. Of course, we immediately got excited and had to invite all of you to guess what's inside. It's time to open it up: Our next door neighbor Zach of Odd Art Fabrications came to open the crate ... then it's time to dig ... Donovan got the honor of digging through the dirt and he soon found buried objects ... Laika sent us a one of a kind figure of Zombie Amelia Wilcott, whose toe tag stated:
Here lies Amelia Wilcott: wife, accuser, custodian of the garden and not quite dead person. She is made out of the finest Puritan silicone flesh, metal wire skeleton and delicately painted skin ...
The scroll features a print, designed by Mondo artist Graham Erwin. On its back, a personal handwritten message:
Dear Alex,

If you are reading this (and the evidence suggests you are), then you've succeeded in exhuming one of the undead stars of our new film, ParaNorman. And while some may find the gift of a painstakingly handcrafted zombie doll with posable limbs buried in dirt to be a little "weird," we suspect it's right up your alley.

This is because we have a hunch you were once, like our hero, Norman, what some people like to call a "weird kid." And weird kids have a way of becoming really interesting grown-ups. Because not just anybody could parlay [a] PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology into creating a blog about all things cool on the Internet. But you did, and now people supposedly working can really be reading about the world's most significant trees, the strangest animal mating habits and the 10 coolest BBQ grills. So for this novel use of grad-school brains, we think you're a shining example of why weird wins. And in the end that's what the movie we make are all about: weird kids trying to find their place in the world.

You'll notice that your newly unearthed friend is sharing her grave with a selection of actual one-of-a-kind props from ParaNorman that we've chosen for you. So when you see the film, you'll see something that's yours in it. We think this is fitting, because there's a lot of you - and us, and weird kids past, present and future - in Norman's story.

The movie will be in theater August 17. But in the meantime we hope you will visit weirdwins.com to meet some of the weird and wonderful artists and craftspeople who have brought ParaNorman to life. ... we'd be suitably thrilled if you added your voice to the conversation by using the hashtag #weirdwins anywhere you share your zombie.

In any case, the former Amelia Wilcott is very pleased to make your acquaintance.

Sincerely,
The ParaNorman Team

That's awesome! Thank you to the ParaNorman Team at Laika - you guys rock! Can't wait to watch the movie. Here's the trailer to get all of you as excited as I am:
