Slauerhoffbrug: The Bridge That Looks Like It's Flipping Pancakes

Betcha never seen a bridge like this one: the Slauerhoffbrug (Slauerhoff Bridge) in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, uses two arms to swing a section of the road in and out of place to let ships through.

The bridge looks like it's flipping pancakes - and one can imagine a hapless car could be catapulted far, far away if it just happens to stop at the wrong section of the bridge!

Unique Daily has the clip of this unusual bridge in action: Link [embedded YouTube]
