The Lamest Looking Aliens From Star Trek

Star Trek propelled science fiction television into the future when it debuted in 1966, but sometimes they missed the mark in terms of creative development, for example while creating some of the dozens of alien species encountered on the show.

Topless Robot has put together a list of the 20 lamest looking alien species from the various incarnations of Star Trek, creatures which looked bad even by the low standards of prosthetic makeup in the 60s.

Peruse the list and have a laugh at the expense of these poor intergalactic schlubs, who are probably completely unaware of how lame their species is perceived to be by human television viewers.

What's interesting is that the photo illustration for the blog post here on Neatorama does NOT depict an alien, but an android (an incomplete one at that). This is the not-quite-finished android Lal, the daughter of Lt. Cmdr. Data of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The exterior of the android was specifically not complete as Data's intention was to allow Lal to select his/her gender and appearance.

The most hilarious thing about that post is the comments. People take this stuff entirely too seriously. Eventually there are commenters conducting actual statistical analyses about Star Trek characters As George Takei would say: "Oh my!"

I'd have to vote for the aliens from ending of the Original Series episode Catspaw, played by a couple of painfully weak marionettes. Mercifully, they were only on screen for a few seconds.
