If there was anyone who forgot this is an Olympic year, prepare yourself, because the emotional ad campaigns leading up to the London Olympics have already started. This Mother's Day ad from Procter and Gamble will make you wish your kids had athletic ambitions. Or... it might make you appreciate the sacrifices your mother made for you. -via The Daily What

I'd like to make one about how private security firms are being trained to harass people taking 'unlicensed' personal photographs.

Or how 'brand police' are scouring the city and issuing criminal citations to businesses displaying unapproved branding in their stores and restaurants.

I'm sorry...I applaud Olympic athlete's work and determination, but the Olympics is a really nasty business.

This is why I don't bother to watch the Olympics anymore. It long ago stopped being about athletic competition and now is all about who has the weepiest story. It really started going down that road when NBC got the broadcast rights in the US and other countries have started to follow with their own version of the Waterworks Games. Wish they'd award broadcast rights to multiple companies so we could choose the type of coverage we want to watch. I'd love to have a straight up sports broadcast of the games.
