This year's Westminster Dog show winners was a Pekingese and while most people know what the dogs look like and might even have a friend or family member who have one, you'd be surprised how much you don't know about the breed. For example:
Lions aren’t common in China, so when artists wanted to model the big cat — a symbol of the Buddha — they used the Pekingese, hence their “lion dog” nickname.
