Party Rock Anthem

(YouTube link)

If you can dance while wearing a marching band uniform with a drum strapped to your belly, then the world is pretty much your oyster. In this video, the Ohio University Marching 110 perform "Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO. -via The Daily What

I agree, Craig. Those examples are nothing compared to a drum and bugle corps.

They may have shaken it up a little, but in comparison to a corps performance, they may as well have been glued to their spots on the field.

Get over it, boys. You're trying to compare apples & oranges. OU's Marching 110 isn't trying to be a D&BC. They are doing what they do -- they do it well -- and they entertain the audience -- which is more than I can say for the vast majority of "World Class" corps the last few years. Trying to be the Eastman Wind Ensemble on a football field isn't my idea of a drum corps, and neither is electronic amplification, woodwinds, and vocalists. If you want to see a drum corps, Google Blue Devils 1989, and take a listen to the opener of Sammy Nestico's "Ya Gotta Try". Now THAT, my friend, is drum and bugle corps....

I haven't actually seen any drum corps in the last several years. I do remember the Blue Devils way back then. I still have a couple of Blue Devils t-shirts from then.
I think it's safe to compare apples and oranges here. this band plays (not spectacularly) a popular song, wiggles their hips and walks forward a little, which is nothing. If it weren't for the song choice, they wouldn't have been that popular with the crowd.
