Perseus with the Head of Ronald McDonald

Italian artist Giuseppe Veneziano updated the Greek myth of Perseus and Medusa with this sculpture. It's a bit harsh. I mean, Ronald McDonald never turned anyone into stone.

UPDATE: In the comments, Sylvian proposes that this sculpture is actually a take on Caravaggio's David with the Head of Goliath. I think he's right.

I had this on my site a week or so ago and also thought it was Perseus, but seeing the Caravaggio, it does look very much like the David and Goliath painting.

Of course it is David and Goliath, it's the little guy taking on the giant corporation!

Interestingly enough, the statue of David by Michelangelo, was put in front of the courthouse in Florence back in the 1500s, to represent the little guys of Florence against the giant powers, the Medicis.

Donatello treats a similar subject, but this is definitely a parody of Caravaggio. Makes me hungry for a Big Mac(tm). McDonalds(tm) should buy the rights and put one outside every outlet.
