File this under the "Why didn't I think of that?" category! Nieuwe Heren, a Dutch design firm ran by two designers in their twenties, came up with a chair and lamp combo that could be accommodated in the smallest of spaces. They made it to provide parents a seat on which to read their children a bedtime story with a lamp at the ready. When you're done using it, lean it against the wall and leave the lamp on for a bit of ambient light. Cool.Chair + lamp pushed vertically against the wall, with a high centre of gravity and a trailing electrical wire in a children's room... what could go wrong? As to the anticipated use, what's wrong with sitting on the end of the bed and reading by the light on the bedroom ceiling? It's different, I'll give them that, but so would be a chair + cheese grater combo for the kitchen.

As a father of a curious 15-month-old toddler, this would be the last thing I'd want in my kid's room. How about designing a table lamp or floor lamp that can't be knocked over? (And, no, bolting them to the floor or table is not an option)... Industrial designers! I challenge thee!
