How to Test for Nearsightedness: Do You See Einstein or Marilyn Monroe?

Here's a clever test developed by Dr. Aude Oliva, a cognitive scientist at MIT. If you see Marilyn Monroe instead of Albert Einstein, you're a bit nearsighted. I don't see any indication that this what Oliva was trying to do, but it does serve that purpose nicely. Link -via Ace of Spades HQ

If you wear glasses, take them off for the test.. With my glasses I see Albert, without, Marilyn. Not surprising as I'm more than just a little nearsighted.

I'm just a little nearsighted, so I don't see Marilyn unless I walk a few meters from the computer. I asked my mother, with a much worse sight than mine, whose picture it was, and she saw Marylin. She could see Einstein if she put her head right next to the screen, though.

Neat.

I suppose this is useful for people who are in complete denial that they are nearsighted but are able to fake their way though recognizing blurry letter shapes.

Haha, great!

With glasses: Einstein

Without: Marilyn with a big mustache

A pair of footsteps away from the desk: Marilyn clearly feminine without any mustache.
