Brick Jacking-St. Louis Style

By Zeon Santos in Crime & Law, Home & Garden, Living, Society & Culture on Jul 21, 2011 at 1:17 am

If you think crime is bad in your neighborhood these days, ask yourself this: are people stealing bricks from houses on your street? If the answer is no, then your hood’s got nothing on St. Louis, Missouri, where things have gotten so bad people are literally stripping houses to the ground for a few extra bucks. There’s a video all about it at Laughing Squid.

the video doesn’t say why, or even give a hint as to why they are stealing the bricks? c’mon brick people, make it interesting for the casual passer by

I’m gonna guess it’s not “they’re stealin’ our bricks!”
as much as it is plain old vandalism. A lot of St. Louis is pretty rough and thuggy these days.

It’s because the antique bricks are valuable for resale.
