No One Runs in Small NC Town's Election

I have heard of people not being interested in politics, but an entire town that can't find anyone to run for mayor? Apparently the job of mayor in one small town is so unappealing that they can't find a single candidate.
The races for mayor and three commission seats are wide open in the small North Carolina town of Tar Heel — because no one bothered to run.  No one has registered as a candidate for the fall elections in the Bladen County town. The story was first reported by WECT-TV.

Unless you have aspirations for higher political office, or want to embezzle the budget and leave town, small town mayor is a thankless job. It's like being the head of a really cranky family in which the children never grow up.

Those who want power are those that should not have it. So I propose we take from the population of Tar Heel our Senate, Congress, and President.
