To promote German political magazine Cicero, artist Ragna Reusch Klinkenberg carved miniature busts of U.S. President Barack Obama, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel into the graphite tips of pencils. The pencils were then sent to each of the world leaders with the message "Politics directly from the source." The magazine claims the PR stunt increased their interview request approval rate from 35% to 65%.
