A Hot Wheels Stunt You Should Not Try at Home - Neatorama

This is just the latest in a line of crazy PR stunts Hot Wheels has been pulling lately. Top Gear host (and pro stunt driver) Tanner Foust drove down a steep, bright orange ramp to gather speed for the record-breaking 332-foot jump he successfully completed at the Indy 500 to set a new world record.

It was pixellated because when the video was shot, the driver was "Stig" from Top Gear and no one knew his identity. It's since been revealed.

The jump was proceeded by an overly long mock-umentary, featuring a fictional Hot Wheels test-pilot/driver. I think the pixelation was to hide the fact that the real driver was not the fictional driver (as was the congratulation message at the end: "Driver, you just crushed the world record!"). After having to sit through the fake documentary, I was/am not convinced that the jump was real either. It certainly wasn't "live", as they kept saying it would be. If it was real, I feel a bit sorry for the uncredited driver who did the jump...

I'm an American and I watch Top Gear not Top Gear America. Mostly because I grew up with those Brits and their humor.
