7 Grimm’s Fairy Tales That Would Make Great Movies

We are all familiar with the classics like Snow White and Hansel and Gretel but what are some of the original Grimm Fairy Tales that would make great (Non Disney) movies? My favorite from the title alone is “The Devil’s Smelly Brother.” http://www.nerdblerp.com/story/2011-02-02-7-grimm-fairy-tales-that-would-make-great-movies

I think Bearskin could be done as an animated movie. The suggestion for Spike Jonze directed Ray Stevenson starring Bearskin might be genius.

I've always loved Allerleirauh (Deerskin) but the incestuous nature would be difficult for a Disney/Pixar or Dreamworks movie. I would LOVE to see it made into a movie though.

There are so many fairy tales that could easily be sanitized that Disney/Dreamworks could pull from. I'd love to see the Tinder Box made into an animated movie. Ooh! IRON JOHN. That would make an excellent movie.

One of my favorite books belongs to the Factoid Press "Big Book Of" line and is called the Big Book of Grimm. It presents the fairy tales in their original, gory, uncensored forms and is fascinating (plus, they're illustrated by top comic artists).

Allerleirauh, illustrated by James Romberger, was one I was previously unaware of, though you can see the echoes in Cinderella. You're right: I can't see Disney touching that with a ten-foot mouse's ear.

There are plenty of old tales I'd like to see made into movies, but for now I'll just say how much I love the illustrations of Arthur Rackham.
