Fashion Trend: Extremely Pointy Boots

(Video Link)

And by "extremely", I mean points about 2-7 feet long extending beyond the toes.

This video, which is voiced in Spanish but subtitled in English, is from the web series Behind the Seams. It describes the emerging Mexican fashion trend of wearing boots with very long points, which is closely affiliated with the Tribal music and dance scene.

When I see a stupid fashion, I get a rage. I am not a nerd though, so its not nerd rage. Its a "Ugh, that is so retarded, who thought that crap up?" fashion rage.
What would that be called?

I live in Mexico (well, Baja California, which apparently doesn't count) and I've never seen the things. Weird, but then so is a LOT of stuff in the US. It is not a joke, though, here the day of pulling pranks is December 28, it would only be celebrated on April 1 by people with real strong roots in the US.

@Randi- I think the word they use for chump is Monoa. I've never heard the word til today, and can't seem to find it written on the internet. Sorry i can't be of help.

This happened in England in the middle ages. It became tremendously fashionable for men to wear pointed shoes. As the years went by, the points on the shoes became longer and longer until eventually no one could really get around very well anymore and they faded out of style. This is true. I'm not making this up. Look it up.

This kind of "fashion" doesn't involve all the country of Mexico since i live in Hidalgo (central part of Mexico) and it's the first time i heard of. (BTW, excuse me all for my poor english)

@Encarnacion: "mono" it's like "dude" but much (way too much) informal.

This happened in Medieval times in Europe. The points of men's shoes go so long they would attach chains from the points and connect them to a garter tied just below the knee and above the calf. Phallic?

Long-toed shoes for men have been appearing more and more in the past few years. I thought it was a European thing, since so many guys I've seen wearing them are all the stylish metrosexual mediterranean/euro types. This seems to be a bizarre progression.
