Twitter in 1935

The "notificator" was coin-operated and left a message for only two hours. It probably did not catch on due to competition from the much-cheaper "bulletin board." http://www.dephx.com/2010/11/twitter-in-1935.html -via reddit

The beauty of this is that your message is behind glass and can't be taken down by someone else, it can't be altered and it does get taken down after a short period of time. No snarky additions to your note and no three-week-old messages.
