Slow Loris with Umbrella

(YouTube link)

Possibly in Russia, where possession of the animal is legal, a slow loris proudly but slowly clutches his tiny umbrella. Say it with me now: aaaawww! -via Daily Picks and Flicks

i cant help but feel sorry for the poor thing, clearly not meant to be kept in a human environment. russia needs to work on its environmental protection laws.

It's facing extinction due to demand in the pet trade, and has become one of the most? popular primate species on sale in Indonesian, and other less regulated, pet markets.
Teeth are ripped out by untrained vendors and hunters, and because the loris is so fragile - the jaw bones are often broken in the process, and/or they get horribly painful infections in the gums and jaw . And then they are either sold on to the unsuspecting, where the loris dies in their new owners possession, unable to eat (but the vendor and hunter have already made their money so they don't give a damn), or killed as unsellable.

That poor creature is tired and being harassed to perform by the selfish and immature human holding him/her. Disgusting. Were I certain the poor beast were being well-cared for and allowed to live naturally, I'd be more amused.

Please take this post down Neatorama.

This animal is obviously not being looked after, and a post like this is only propagating the removal of a species from the planet.

Surely this isn't what Neatorama is about?

No amount of traffic is worth this...

People keep various animals from nature, even horses are domesticated to have humans on the back, cats, dogs, mice all for pleasure, bud god forbid if you see anything else.

Just because of this video no one can say it is not looked after.

I think this video is cute. Shame about the jerks who abuse the wee lorises (lorisi?) before they are sold, but puppy farms exist too and no one is trying to outlaw puppies. This loris doesn't look all that tortured to me. Looks pretty plump and content, actually.

Wow look at all the fuss over this cute little thing.
Not much of a fuss a month or two back when it was a baby bear and a kitty.
Is there only concern when the animal in the video is cute?
