When Bert Amend (right), a shake mill worker, lost his right arm in an accident at the turn of the century he didn't let it interfere with his ability to play music. He formed a musical group of one-armed musicians who played a variety of instruments (including a couple of fancy Knutsens) altered by Amend with special attachments and devices to accommodate the special needs of the band members. The group travelled the Pacific Northwest Vaudeville circuit and were billed as "The Greatest Novelty Musical Act In Vaudeville".Link Via Uncertain Times
