How the First Transistor Worked

(YouTube)

The first transistor was handmade at Bell Labs in 1947. It didn't look quite like what we are used to today, but it worked! -Thanks, Bill Hammack!

Back in the mid 60's I had a 9-volt transistor radio with the old fashion ear bud. I took the ear bud apart and hooked the wires up to my braces in my mouth and what do you know, I could here the music in my mouth. I thought it was the coolest thing around.
